What's for sale?

This is a mid 20th Century, soda siphon in sky blue glass. While it would have been used in French bars and cafes (and the metal top is French made), the glass bottle was actually made in Czechoslovakia.

It's a nice bottle, slightly conical and fluted vertically, apart from a large circle on the front on which is etched "SPADA AMIENS".

The all metal cap and spout is engraved on one side "Spada Amiens" and "Ets. Cirier Pavard Paris Etain Sans Plomb" on the other.  The clear glass inner tube is present and intact. The top isn't seized and can be removed.

Siphons were used in cafes, bars and hotels around the world, particularly during the first half of the 20th century. They were reusable and had a hard life, and so eventually became too expensive to use. Of course now, because of the branding and coloured glass, they're a collectable branch of advertising.

What condition is it in?

  • Second-hand
  • In very good condition
  • No chips or cracks
  • The trigger moves a little but assume it doesn't work
  • The top is removable and the inner glass tube is intact

What are the measurements?

  • 34.5cm high (13.5 inches)
  • 10cm base diameter (4 inches)s
  • 1730 grams
