This is an interesting teapot from Fosters Pottery of Redruth in Cornwall. It has a distinctive, ovoid shape with a high gloss, drip glaze finish known as Honeycomb.
It's an interesting design, perhaps with hints of Cornwall's Celtic past. It has an accented handle and a squat, oval body like an oil lamp. The oval lid has been shaped to match.
It's also a functional item and and holds 1.5 pints (just under 1 litre).
The honeycomb range included a wide variety of forms and was available in cream, green and the brown you see here. It's a collectable range, owing to the striking finish and designs.
