A handmade, hammered copper and brass flagon from Dinant in Belgium, where copper and brass has been worked since the middle ages. Second-hand.
What's for sale?
This is a slender, handmade, copper and brass flagon with round, hammered body and a large, embossed or repoussé rose at its centre. The handle, spout and foot are brass; the body is copper. The colours are nice and it's aged very well.
It's from the city of Dinant, in French speaking, south east Belgium. During the middle ages, Dinant was the centre of high quality brass and copper making, such that dinanderie is the French word for such wares.
It was probably made as an ornament or souvenir, but it's also a useable object for watering plants, etc. Underneath it's stamped "Dinant Belgique" and it could have been made at any time during the last century.
