A vintage yellow Suze apéritif jug for sale
This is a bright yellow, earthenware water jug, branded for the French apéritif brand Suze. It's a nice-looking jug and unusual in that the brand name is in raised, embossed, black lettering, rather than the usual transfer.
Promotional water jugs have long been made for placement in cafés and restaurants. Jugs branded for Suze are rarer and harder to find than other French brands such as Ricard.
The Suze liqueur is flavoured with gentian root, which is believed to aid digestion. It's a strong bitter flavour, that takes some getting used to. We're not quite there yet, but any jug embossed with "Suze" makes a good gift for any Sue, Susan, Suzanne, Susie, or of course, Suze you might know.
