What's for sale?
This is a collection of four Victorian, salt-glazed, stoneware bottles, pots and jars in a variety of shapes and sizes.
The largest is a ginger beer bottle with screw top, stamped Roberts & Co Uckfield Brewery.
The other pots and jars would have been used for a variety of purposes, often ink.
Today they're attractive ornaments and combine well with other bottles of differing shapes and sizes. We like putting together collections like this, trying to match them to create an interesting display.
What condition are they in?
- Second-hand
- In fair condition
- The glaze on these bottles always has imperfections
- Some may have been recovered from Victorian rubbish tips
- The ginger beer bottle has a shallow chip on the neck, below the screw top
- The lid also has a large chip, but still screws in and out
