This is a mid-to-late 19th century clear glass, pillar decanter with original stopper.
It's a beautiful shape, with a standard decanter collar, a bell neck and a body with eight pillars continuing down to the base. The stopper also has eight pleats, matching the pillars. This style of decanter is often referred to as a Newcastle pillar decanter, with no obvious reason why.
These were made by hand blowing the molten glass into a mold. On the base you see where the pontil rod was attached and there are many air bubbles throughout the glass.
