A handmade, colourful, studio pottery design inspired by British coastal fishing boats, with registration code 'CS9'. New.
What's for sale?
This is a handmade, earthenware olive dish by British potter Val Sparkes. Its form is the shape of a traditional British coastal fishing boat, with identification code 'CS9' on both sides. The letters 'CS' are the registration code for Cowes on the Isle of Wight.
The design references older boats from days gone by and the colours are a pretty blend of red, cream and pale turquoise. These are charming hand-built and hand-painted items.
This is from Val Sparkes 'All at Sea' range which also included her shipping forecast designs. Her earlier designs largely featured animals, while these designs from the latter part of her career (she's now retired) featured the sea.
Who made it and when?
