A 15 inch (38cm), floral-patterned, Staffordshire, oval serving platter. Second-hand.
What's for sale?
This is a medium to large, Staffordshire, oval serving platter decorated with Royal Cauldon's "Victoria" pattern. It's 15 inches or 38cm long.
The Victoria pattern is a popular and colourful transfer design, finished with gold-coloured highlighting on the rim. The range included a large variety of tableware and is becoming quite collectable.
Large platters like this present food beautifully and are perfect for Christmas dinner. Old china tableware can continue to be used and enjoyed, but shouldn't be put in a dishwasher or left immersed in hot water, which can introduce crazing. Hand washing with warm water and washing-up liquid or detergent is fine.
Who made it and when?
The maker's mark underneath indicates that it was made after 1950. It reads:
- Royal Cauldon
- A crown and Est. 1774
- Made in England
- "Victoria"
What condition is it in?
- Second-hand
- In good condition with no staining
- There are some faint marks and scratches on the patterned side
- There is some crazing on the underneath
- The gold-coloured rim has a little wear

- 38cm long (15 inches)
