What's for sale?

This is a really nice, studio pottery flour caster, dredger or shaker by Canadian potter Phil Yordy.

It's a good design. There is a small handle and the filling hole is opposite, near the top and fitted with a cork bung. The top itself has a pretty design of five petal-shaped groups of dredging holes.

The body has been slightly grooved up the sides, and this is emphasized by a blue-grey wash of glaze which is darker in the grooves.

Who made it and when?

It was made by the Canadian potter Phil Yordy. He began at his Conestoga River Pottery in St. Jacobs, Ontario in 1979. His work is probably hard to find outside of North America.

Impressed on the base is:

  • Phil Yordy
  • St. Jacobs, Ontario

What condition is it in?

  • Second-hand
  • In very condition
  • No chips or cracks
  • There are a few pits in the glaze

What are the measurements?

  • 10cm high
  • 11cm wide to the handle
  • 377 grams
