What's for sale?
This is a signed pair of small earrings with concentric, champlevé squares filled with red and black enamel. They're stud earrings for pierced ears with butterfly backs.
On the back, they're signed "Jomaz", which refers to Joseph J. Mazer, the American costume jewellery maker. Joseph and Louis Mazer had been making jewellery as the Mazer Brothers since 1917, but in 1946, Joseph formed his own company and began producing under the name Jomaz.
Both companies produced good quality jewellery and the earliest pieces are very collectable.
Champlevé (raised field) is the technique which creates enamel-filled sections with raised borders.
What condition are they in?
- Second-hand
- In very good, clean condition
- One earring has faint marks on the red enamel
