What's for sale?
This is a collectable, metal tin for Huntley & Palmers biscuits. It has a separate, non-hinged lid and can be displayed standing up, or laid flat.
This tin was part of a range of collectable gift products, illustrated with some of author Beatrix Potter's famous characters. On this one is Tom Kitten with his mum. He was a little overweight, and his trouser buttons would burst off, so that she had to sew them on again.
The book publisher's name 'F. Warne' can be seen on one side. The Beatrix Potter tins were first produced in the mid 1950s, with the Huntley & Palmers logo on the side and five were reproduced from 1973 to 1978. The 'F. Warne' transfer showing 'P.L.C.' rather than 'Ltd', places this example in the early 1980s.
