What's for sale?
This is a salt glazed, stoneware pot with lid, decorated in the traditional cobalt blue over grey. It's a simple, attractive design and beautifully decorated by Jos Kalb.
Jos was a potter at the Gres De La Roche pottery (Sandstone of Roche) which is in the Ardennes, Belgium.
It's a medium-sized pot, probably meant for sugar, as there are coffee pots, cups and jugs with the same pattern.
The texture in salt glaze pottery comes from the addition of salt to the kilns during the firing process, which is when the higher temperatures are reached. It's strong and long lasting.

It has been signed by Jos Kalb, a potter at the Gres De La Roche pottery. He worked there during the first half of the 20th century, until around the 1950s.
