What's for sale?
This is a medium-sized vase with beautifully-glazed, horizontal stripes, made during the 1960s or 1970s by Dümler and Breiden of Germany.
It has an earthy, natural look and feel, with alternating smooth and rough textures in cream and shades of brown. The inside is a high gloss, dark brown.
Who made it?
Dümler & Breiden was founded in 1883, near Koblenz in central Germany. The name refers to Peter Dümler and brother-in-law Albert Breiden. Their factory became one of West Germany's leading ceramics producers during the second half of the 20th century.
The maker's mark is impressed on the base:
- Crossed swords with "d" and "b"
- 481/18 (the form number and height in cm)
- GERMANY
