A signed, clear rhinestone and white-metal brooch by the well-known and long-standing, British costume jewellery maker. Second-hand.
What's for sale?
This is an unusual, musically-themed item of costume jewellery: a silver-toned, white-metal brooch, set with 8 clear glass rhinestones.
It's formed into the shape of a treble clef, or G clef, which is used in musical notation to indicate the position of the the first G note above middle C. It's secured by a pin with rollover clasp.
On the back is the maker's mark "Ciro", the British costume jewellery maker, originally founded in London in 1917 and later expanding to New York as a separate company. Although the original British company went out of business in 1998, the trademark continues in Europe, as does the American operation across the Atlantic. Have a look at cirojewellery.com.
Who made it and when?
On the back, it is stamped with the Ciro logo used by the original British company.
