A mid 20th Century, blue, glass soda siphon from France. Second-hand.
What's for sale?
This is a mid 20th Century, sky blue, glass soda siphon from France.
It's an unusual bottle in design, with embossed, rather than the usual etched or painted lettering. The body is fluted vertically, apart from a large circle on the front, containing the letters "CGSM".
The all metal cap and spout is engraved with "Tisserand Rozier", which may refer to Le Rozier in southern France. The inner tube is made from clear glass, and is intact. The top can be removed.
Siphons were used in cafes, bars and hotels, all around the world and particularly during the first half of the 20th century. They were reusable but had a hard life and eventually became too expensive to use. They're now a collectable branch of advertising because they're usually branded and frequently made from coloured glass.
